Kingston, JAのMona Heightsのリハビリテーションセンターにいた50年代に
流行した小児麻痺の後遺症を持つ3人が作ったレゲエのヴォーカル・トリオ
Israel Vibrationが78年にTop Rankingからリリースしたデビューアルバム
"The Same Song"が、On-U Soundのリイシュー専門レーベルPressure Sound
から再発された。

オリジナルと異なり、表題曲"The Same Song"がショーケース形式のExtended
Versionに差し替えられている。さらに、追加曲として、続いて発表された
12"シングル"Crisis"とそのダブが収録されている。ちなみに、オリジナルの
アルバムのヴァージョンの"The Same Songは、Pressure Soundのサンプラー盤
Various Artists "Sound & Pressure Volume One" (Pressure Sound, CDPS005)
に収録されている。

表題曲"The Same Song"のようなのんびりした感じの曲がこのアルバムの色
だと思うが、むしろ中では異色な"Walk The Streets Of Glory"のような
ちょっと暗めでアップテンポな曲が弱いコーラスも効果的に感じられて、
僕は好きだ。

"The Some Song"のダブ"Same Song Dub"は、2nd "Unconquered People"の
ダブ"Unconquered Dub"とのカップリングされて'91年にCD再発されている。

CDのライナーノーツでは1-9が"The Same Song"のダブとされているが、
1-10の誤り。"The Same Song"と収録順がちょうどA面B面逆になっているが、
全曲のダブが収録されている。ちなみに、"Unconqurered People"のダブが
残りの8曲11-18である。

Greensleeves盤のクレジットはかなり誤りがあるのだが、"Same Song Dub"の
ダブのミキサーはErrol Brown at Tuff Gongと、"Unconquered People"と
同じようだ。

曲をズタズタにされたり変な効果音がぶち込まれたりということはなく、
元曲のメロディがよく生きているポップなダブだ。
