失敗超新星

一方、オリオン座のそばにある一つの刻み跡は現代の星空には対応する星がなく、 研究者たちは失敗超新星由来の見えなくなった残骸の可能性もあると述べています。
失敗超新星とは? まあナゾロジーだからテキトーな訳をしたんだろうと 調べてみたら
Failed supernova は、 超新星の初期段階と同じように恒星が突然明るくなるが、 その後大規模な流束にまでできず暗くなってしまう天文現象である[1][2][3]。 Failed supernova は擬似的超新星のサブカテゴリーに挙げられることもある。 日本語では「失敗した超新星[3]」「爆発し損なった超新星[2]」「爆発失敗超新星[2]」などと呼ばれることもあるが、 天文用語として定まった対訳はなく、研究者は原語のFailed supernovaをそのまま使っている。
というものらしい。
